The prediction is that, in the near future, e- pharmacy could account for 15- 20% of the total pharma sales in India over the next 10 years. It would be brought to reality by largely enhancing adherence and access to medicine for a majority of the under- served population, active pharmacist counselling, long term drug compliance for chronic diseases and cost savings on bills with doctor’s consultation support.

Globally, e- pharmacy is growing at a pace of 15% with expected rate of $200 billion industry by 2025. Many countries are indulging the concept of e- pharmacy by making e- prescriptions and e- health records mandatory. New York has completely banned paper prescriptions while China is encouraging one- minute clinics that provide immediate health consultation and dispense medicine or delivery it to home by end of consultation.
